Professional workflow

Time tracking for professionals whose work changes context.

Professional work rarely stays inside one customer, project, matter, or responsibility. TimeSwitch makes each context change a deliberate timer action and keeps the resulting sessions ready for review, reporting, or billing.

One working day, several kinds of time

Start with a customer engagement, switch when an internal project needs attention, pause for an interruption, then move into administration without reconstructing the sequence at the end of the day.

TimeSwitch closes one session and starts the next at a shared timestamp. Optional descriptions preserve what the work involved, not only how long it lasted.

  • One active workstream at a time
  • Pause without turning the session into a completed stop
  • Correct or add a session when real work did not follow the stopwatch

Billable and internal time belong in the same record

Each customer record has an hourly rate and currency. Use the agreed rate for billable work or create a zero-rate record for internal, administrative, training, or non-billable time that still needs to be understood.

Reports keep currency totals separate, while history and CSV export provide a clean record for invoicing, project costing, workload review, or another downstream process.

Useful independently or inside an organization

An independent professional can use TimeSwitch as their direct time record. Someone working inside an organization can capture their own time accurately and export it into the organization’s existing billing, project, or reporting workflow.

The current product is an individual account rather than a shared team workspace. Manager approvals, pooled reporting, and organization administration remain separate future capabilities.

  • Legal, accounting, advisory, engineering, design, development, and research work
  • Customer, project, matter, case, and internal time allocation
  • Individual records that remain portable through CSV export

The record follows the work

Timer actions are recorded locally first. During travel, unreliable workplace Wi-Fi, or a temporary outage, completed work queues for synchronization when connectivity returns.

The same active timer stays close on supported web, Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch surfaces, while visible sync status shows whether another device should already reflect the latest change.

Make the next client switch explicit.

Start with the full web tracker, then keep the timer nearby on supported companion apps.
